Doc’s Blog: “Oh What A Day!“

Ok, it was a special day, so I’ve decided it’s ok to make a special blog. I promise that Brandi will soon share her thoughts with you, but 1st, I’ll share mine.
Yesterday was the very 1st game that Brandi’s new team, the FC Gold Pride played at Buck Shaw Stadium. I watched Brandi seize this opportunity with the grace of a champion, that we all know she is. We keep telling you ladies to challenge yourselves to reach up to your wildest dreams… to challenge yourselves to try something you didn’t know you could do. Yesterday, I was able to witness Brandi doing just that.
It’s been over 5 years since Brandi last played professional soccer. When this new opportunity surfaced, she could not let it go by. She started to train and worked really hard to condition herself to play at an elite level again. She let the entire world know that she was going to try to play again. Not everyone was supportive. Some of the media questioned her ability to come back. She risked failing with all eyes on her.  That was ok with her. She had to try.
When Brandi entered the game in the 64th minute, it seemed like the entire stadium erupted! Can you imagine all that love and support! The game was on the line, tied at one all. Then in the 90th minute, Brandi served a perfect ball to her new teammate, Kandace Wilson. When her shot on goal was blocked, Brandi’s former national teammate, Tiffeny Millbrett collected the rebound and fired it in for the winning goal! What a day! Tiffeny wasn’t even drafted into the new league. She had to ask for a chance to try out for a spot on the team. So, ladies, always believe in yourself. Remember to surround yourselves with friends who believe in you, as well. You rock!
Peace,

Fun game to watch, even though I was limited to TV as always. =P Here’s my two cents (take it or leave it): Eriko’s fro is awesome. Weimer is a madwoman, I like it. And it’s certainly great to see Brandi and Millie on the field again! Congrats to everyone involved!
