Remember To Breathe!

It has been a while since we have talked.  I hope you are all doing well and enjoying as beautiful a late summer, early fall as we are having in California.  Lots of things have been happening and I feel like I haven’t been able to get off the treadmill of life to stop, find time and ReachuP! (and out) to you.  But, since kindergarten and Santa Clara University women’s soccer have all settled down, I don’t have the flu (knocking on wood right now and encouraging you to get your vaccine to keep it that way) and I am feeling like all my bio rhythms are in sync, here I am.  I have been contemplating the message of the month and I think that it will be twofold.  One, Life is a Process.  Two, Breathing is Good (besides necessary).
First, Life is a Process.  I have been doing lots of reading to help better my relationship with my kids, which in turn has been helping me with the soccer players at Santa Clara as well as with my husband.  There are times when I want to throw my hands up and give into the hard work or demands.  Sometimes there seem to be more challenges than rewards and it would be easier to give up.  But I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE SOLUTION so during my moments of doubt, exhaustion or uncertainty, the number two item comes into play.  BREATHE.  It sounds kind of funny, even silly or too simplistic, but taking a moment to close my eyes, relax my shoulders, and inhale gives me a chance to evaluate the situation and move forward.  What the combination of one and two do for me is to keep me on track, recognize that there are no quick fixes or solutions and give me the ability to be in charge of how I am feeling about what I am facing.  Another great thing about this is that it can be practiced and used in any environment because it doesn’t take equipment, a special place or workout gear.  We can all do it, because there is peace to be found everywhere.  So my friends, remember, there isn’t anything in life that comes without a growing process (and therefore pains too) and that if you don’t breath, you won’t be able to enjoy it anyway.
Be real friends, move forward and BREATHE!
