H2O.. Yes, that stands for water!
Your body has it’s own way of controlling temperature. Drinking water before, during, and after physical activity is a great way to keep your body’s air conditioner working. You should start drinking water a few hours before you go out to play.
Keep a bottle of water with you to drink during time outs, half time, or any other breaks that you get. Try to drink about 10 large gulps every 15- 20 minutes.
Don’t forget, when you sweat, your body loses water. It’s up to you to keep replenishing your water supply!
How much do you drink when you play? What do you drink now?

Believe it or not, Annie, water is still the best way to replenish fluids. Either gatorade or powerade is ok in moderation. I recommend diluting them with water. They are mainly designed to replenish salt or potassium, which is what you lose when you are sweating a lot. They work best during a long game or practice session, when you are losing lots of sweat. Be careful, as many commercial drinks are high in sugar content. Practice reading labels when you are shopping with your mom or dad. Chose the drinks with the lowest sugar content. You’ll quickly become an expert!
