Fitness At Home

What if I don’t belong to a team? How do I stay physically fit? It’s ok if you’re not interested in traditional sports. It’s important, however, to find other ways to be active. Explore other options, like bicycling, walking, martial arts, jumping rope, hula- hoops, or playing tag. You can even take a ball and invent your own game! Be creative and be active!

Is it true that if you play tag or dodgeball you are still considered being active?? Also, can you exercise too much? If you do what would happen? -Annie

Absolutely,Annie! Any game where you move is also causing you to exercise. I suppose if you hide but never move you wouldn’t get much exercise, but what fun is that!
You can exercise too much. The key is to build up endurance slowly, to give your body time to get used to the exercise. If you do too much, too soon, then your muscles and bones will start to cry foul! Ok, not exactly, but they can start to break down. This is how little, tiny fractures called stress (or fatigue) fractures happen in bones. The muscles start to to hurt, 1st just with the activity, then all of the time.
These injuries are called “overuse,“ or “repetitive stress injuries.“
So, remember, Annie, start slowly, and build up your endurance over time. Also, remember to drink water every 20 minutes.
